Both Thomas F. JONES (1775-1856) and his wife, Rebecca POWELL (1785-1872) came to Georgia from South Carolina. They were my GGGG Grandparents. Thomas F. JONES was one of the earliest settlers of Newton County, Georgia. He served as one of the jurors at the first session of the Newton County Superior Court on April 15, 1822. Also, he served as one of the original trustees of the Newton County Academy. Thomas F. and Rebecca (POWELL) JONES had 13 children. The children whose names I know are: Joice Ann, Wiley Payton, Thomas Franklin, Pleasant B., Elizabeth, Sara, Francis M. and Thomas Floyd.

Wiley Payton JONES (1807-1859) and his wife Jane NEELY (1808-1870) were my GGG Grandparents. I do not yet know Wiley's county of origin, but he died in Coweta County, Georgia, it is said after being kicked in the head by a horse. Wiley and Jane's children were: Rebecca L., Emily C., Martha A. B., Thomas Franklin, Mary Elizabeth, William Harrison and Sarah JONES. William Harrison JONES was my GG Grandfather.

William Harrison JONES was born in 1843 in Newton County, Georgia, and apparently spent a good portion of his early years in Coweta County. He was married to Mary Elizabeth COOPER (1847-1930) in 1864 in Coweta County, Georgia. Mary came from the COOPER and FRY families of Coweta County, Georgia. William was a minister and was influential in the early days of the Berea Christian Church in Hampton, Henry County, Georgia, and was pastor of that church from about 1883 until about 1893.

William Harrison JONES and Mary Elizabeth COOPER had nine children: Annie L., Mary E., Thomas Cooper, Fannie Lou, Minnie Kate, Leila W., Isaac Errett, Florence and Edna JONES.

Edna JONES (1886-1957, Henry County, Georgia), was married to Wilson Madison STARR (1880-1944). They were my Great Grandparents. They lived primarily in Henry County, Georgia, in the area of Hampton. Their children are listed as: James Glenn, Rubye Florence, Opal, Harold, Mary Beulah, Martha, Mildred, William Clarence, Wayne and Evelyn Jeanette "Janie" STARR. Rubye Florence STARR (1911-2004) was my grandmother, and was married to Walter COLEMAN.

Cousin Jimmy JONES of Macon was of particular help with the two earliest generations of this family. Jimmy is a descendent of Isaac Errett JONES. Thank you, Jimmy!
