John was born about 12/19/1827,
possibly in Henry County, Georgia, but most likely somewhere else as this
line of the Coleman family does not appear in Census records till after 1830.
He died 5/24/1884 in Spalding County, Georgia.
John was first married
to Mary Ann Williams on January 2, 1851. At present we know nothing of Mary
Ann Williams, and we are not aware of any children born to this marriage.
Though no evidence has yet been uncovered, it is assumed that Mary Ann died
sometime during the next 18 years or so.
It is also possible that
John was married to Amelia Reeves. More information on this is pending.
John was next married
to Sarah Wingfield Ogletree (widow of William Jefferson Johnson) on January
17, 1869, in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia.
Without firm confimation,
we believe that John M. C. Coleman is buried in an unmarked grave in the County
Line Methodist Church Cemetery, located in the Birdie Community of Spalding
County, Georgia. Birdie is just northwest of Griffin, near the area where
Spalding, Henry, Fayette and Clayton counties converge.
