My Currie family is currently documented and known back to William Currie, born about 1780 in South Carolina. William was married to Catherine Quattlebaum. They appear to have lived in the area of Edgefield, South Carolina. They had several children, one of whom was William Belton Currie (1815-1884), born in South Carolina and died in the area of Oakfuskee, Cleburne County, Alabama. He was married to Martha Patsy Glymph. Among their children was Milledge Emory Bonam Currie (1861-1937), my Great Grandfather, who married Mary Ardella Phillips. Mary Ardella had four children with Milledge, and then after Milledge apparently abandoned his family, she appears to have had two or three other children with John Stephens. While I have never had any contact with any of these Stephens descendants, I have been in contact with several descendants from the four children of Milledge and Mary Ardella, who was also known as Della. Most of these are my 2nd cousins, with their own parents being first cousins of my mother. My mother knew all of them when she was young.

I have been greatly aided by the help of cousin Linda Currie in my search for information on this family, in addition to several 2nd cousins I have been in contact with recenty. They seem like a great group of folks who I would like to meet someday. If you are in anyway connected to this family, please contact me so we can compare notes. Thanks!
